1994 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Widebody

1994 Porsche 911 Carrera 4.

One of 267 widebody coupes delivered to the North American market.

Acquired from a well known automotive designer, who personally commissioned a multi-year restoration which included a repaint in Olive Green, a custom reupholstered interior, and a rebuild of the 3.6-liter flat-six as well as the installation of a ducktail rear spoiler, a sunroof delete plate, sport seats, 18″ Fuchs-style wheels, Turbo brakes, Bilstein PSS10 coilovers, and Tarett Engineering shock mounts and front monoball camber plates. Additional equipment includes a five-speed manual transaxle, a Continental stereo, and air conditioning.

Originally finished in Guards Red, the car was repainted Olive Green by Best of Show Coachworks in Escondido, California, at which time a sunroof-delete panel was welded in, the front bumper was modified, body-color brake cooling ducts were added in place of the fog lights, clear front turn signals were installed, and a fiberglass ducktail spoiler was fused to the stock rear decklid. A Euro rear windshield was installed to eliminate the third brake light and wiper. The Carfax report lists damage to the front and left front in 2003, and the left front fender was replaced that year.

Black-finished 18″ Fikse FFR wheels feature frosted anodized edges and are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires measuring 235/40 up front and 285/35 at the rear. Turbo 964-sourced brake components were installed under current ownership, and the widebody rear trailing arms have been replaced with narrow-body components. The suspension has additionally been modified with Bilstein PSS10 coilover shocks, Tarett Engineering front strut mounts, front monoball camber plates, and rear monoball shock mounts.

The interior was refreshed by Escondido Custom Upholstery in California, including the installation of sport seats trimmed in in black Spinneybeck Leather Weave with ventilation grommets, Recaro badging, and Olive Green accent stitching that extends to the door panels, dashboard, and shifter boot. The door panels and rear seats were reupholstered to match, and replacement carpets were also installed along with an Alcantara headliner, a Function-First Performance alloy shift knob, and a Continental stereo. The right air temperature actuator motor was replaced in 2023.

The MOMO Prototipo steering wheel is accented with Olive Green stitching and a matching horn button with an embossed Porsche crest. The VDO instrumentation was refurbished by North Hollywood Speedometer, including repairing the speedometer and replacing the odometer gears. The six-digit odometer shows 181,000 miles, approximately 10,000 of which were added under prior ownership.

The 3.6-liter flat-six was rebuilt by Black Forest Automotive in San Diego, California under current ownership. The engine hardware and fuel rail were re-plated, the fan housing and engine bay were powder-coated black, and a Steve Wong chip and secondary muffler bypass pipe were installed.  Power is sent to all four wheels via a five-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. The clutch hydraulic cylinders were replaced in 2021.
